My Year Reflections and Vision

My Year Reflection.png

Last year of 2017 was my “year of change and alignment”. My season echoed the proclamation of pastors Toure Roberts (ONE Church LA) and my own, LaBryant Friend (All Nations ATL). Though they lead separate churches on opposites ends of the coast, the fusion of their messages deeply connected with a new journey I was embarking. I finally awoke to the realization I’d been living in a deep slumber and no longer desired to operate on “autopilot”. I wanted to be aligned with God’s agenda for my life and for that to occur, everything had to change.

In 2017, I joined and served in a new church home; after years of procrastinating I officially launched The Christian Perspective and hosted panels; really allowed God in my love life to deal with forgiveness and heal my heart; and after 7 years began transitioning out of my very first (and only) post graduate job in my career. This was definitely a year of unprecedented internal battles, process, and challenges. It’s was the year everything had to change: my faith, my environment, the people I surrounded myself with. But it was also a year God really showed his faithfulness. God’s promises are never without His provisions. Every step I felt unprepared for, God’s grace was sufficient in fulfilling wherever I thought I lacked. My alignment wasn’t so much in the things I can see, though there is evidence of it; but, the alignment was rooted in who I trusted to make it all happen. Removing the pressure and expectation for me to perform, have it all together, have all the answers and instead trust God to work on my behalf.

Now into 2018, I am excited to move into a saturation of what God introduced in my life last year. Pastor Friend has proclaimed this year to be the “year of an open heaven” and I can’t agree more. No, we may not still have it all together; but be thankful and confident everything is working together for our good. Our past is not in vain. In fact, our experiences places us in a better position for the next chapter. In these first days of 2018, I’ve seen people around me really flourish. Launching new businesses, partnerships, finding love, being publicly recognized for their achievements. It’s time to adjust our posture and position. God’s people have the birthright and inheritance to ask, work and be blessed according to our faith. (Matthew 7:7-8; Matthew 9:29; Matthew 21:22; Ephesians 3:20)  So do it. This is the year to change our expectations, intentions and the faith required to match them. We are under an open heaven. It’s time to GET ALIGNED & IN LINE.
