Unraveling Soul Ties
What are Soul Ties? Sometimes, when you hear of soul ties, it’s this mystical occurrence that no one can really see or touch. It’s common to hear in reference to sex, but that isn’t it’s only access point. Soul Ties can be an unnatural and unhealthy bond with a person, place or thing. The risk and implication of Soul Ties is that is hovers senses of fear, manipulation, intimidation, helpless and hopeless attraction, and unmerited loyalty in connection to you and a person, place or thing. Again, back to the commonly referenced sex theme, Soul Ties often occur through the interaction of intercourse; being physically, emotionally and spiritually intertwined with someone. This creates a very strong bond between you and the other person and an almost literal gift of possession, as you are “giving of yourself to them”. You may be able to “feel” them when they are not around, relive memories as it were in real time, and adopt some of their personality traits and behaviors. Soul Ties follow you like they have a right to. Even if the relationship ends, you may continue to attract the “same type” of person, may feel “trapped” in unhealthy cycles, distressed relationships, decisions are based of ill memories or feelings towards that person, etc.
As mentioned earlier, Soul Ties do not always knot through sex. Other access points can be through seeds of vulnerability, unforgiveness, idolatry, promises, agreements and vows. They also can be intertwined within platonic relationships/friendships, occult practices, deceased persons, or can even be attributed to a place or thing. Soul Ties influence how you think and behave.There is oftentimes a lack of freedom. A good question to ask yourself, what has me physically, emotionally and spiritually bound?
I’ve had to deal with and break Soul Ties. Some from relationships even without the act of intercourse. From years of not speaking, seeing them or even insta stalking on social media they still took up space in my heart. They were squatters! In some circumstances issues stemmed from unforgiveness, resentment, insecurities, and rejection from my deceased father, past boyfriends and “situationships” to even ladies in my sorority. I allowed resentment and rejection to rule in my heart for years, even though I thought I forgave and was good. I wasn’t. I had to break that in which kept my heart captive.
So how do you move past a Soul Tie?
Well first, understand that freedom is yours and is your birth right as a child of God.
Recognize the root cause of the matter, ask for forgiveness, then submit yourself and whatever you are breaking away from to the authority of God.
Submit your heart back into agreement and alignment with God.
Ask God for wholeness and to put back in place the fragments of yourself that may be displaced.
Cover and seal your prayer with the blood of Jesus and in His name.
Here is an example prayer:
I place (myself/say your name) under the authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came in the flesh, and I ask You, Lord Jesus, to sever the ungodly spirit, soul and body ties between myself and (the person, place or thing of offense )
I ask You Lord Jesus, in Your grace and mercy, to bring back to everything of my spirit, soul and body that (the person, place or thing of offense) may be holding of me.
And I ask You Lord Jesus to take away from me everything of (the person, place or thing of offense) spirit soul and body and return this to them.
By faith I place the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ between us.
I now take authority in Jesus Name over every demonic power linked into and onto this ungodly tie, and in Jesus Name I command you to leave me without harm and to go only where Jesus Christ tells you to go.
I ask You Holy Spirit to fill those areas where the enemy had held sway in.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. ”
